Cousins!
One thing the black community is never short on is excellence. Atlanta native Travis Fanning, has stepped up recently to add to the forever growing generational contributions of sheer excellence, from the black community.
According to Kris 6 News Sunrise, Mr Fanning was assistant superintendent in Houston before heading over to the Beeville Secondary School District. It was there, he became the very first black superintendent they’ve ever had.
Though he felt he was destined to become a lawyer, his time spent in a math lab in an Alabama University, changed him completely. He went as far as changing his major to a Math degree and the rest was history. Superintendent Fanning strives to be present and make a difference in his community. His presence is very welcomed and he strives to inspire others to reach higher and do better. He believes it’s important to model the behaviour you wish to see in others.
When he was asked what Black Excellence means to him, he made sure to mention being superintendent as well as providing representation for not only the black community, but sharing his good example he sets for all the students. We salute him and wish him all the best as Superintendent in Beeville. His growth continues as he is currently earning his doctorate degree in education leadership from Baylor University .
