The legendary Dr. Maya Angelou is up next to receive a posthumous honor in recognition of her impactful legacy, as she is set to be featured on the U.S quarter come 2022!

According to Yahoo News, Dr. Angelou will be featured apart of the 2022 American Women Quarters Program Coin.

Alongside Maya historic trailblazing women such as Dr. Sally Ride, Wilma Mankiller, Anna May Wong and Nina Otero-Warren will also be apart of the collections official release. From 2022 through 2025 each year a quarter will he produced.

Sources confirm that George Washington will remain on the heads side and their faces will be featured on the tails side of the coin.

“These inspiring coin designs tell the stories of five extraordinary women whose contributions are indelibly etched in American culture,” reads a forwarded statement from United States Mint Acting Director Alison L. Doone.

“Generations to come will look at coins bearing these designs and be reminded of what can be accomplished with vision, determination and a desire to improve opportunities for all.”
