The category 4 storm has been identified as the worst storm the U.S has ever experienced, taking place exactly 16 years after Hurricane Katrina.

According to the Guardian Ida hit Louisiana lashing the coast with 150 mile-per-hour winds, with intense downpours.

Reports read that President Biden, has officially declared the storm a major disaster with federal aid set to be forwarded to those in need of assistance.

Millions of New Orleans residents are currently experiencing extreme flooding and power outages with more than 200 people categorized as being in “imminent danger”

Social media users have taken to numerous platforms providing live statuses of the storm while seeking assistance.

As of right now one person has been confirmed as dead due to a fallen tree.
