Actor Bryshere Gray best known for his role as Hakeem Lyon within the Fox original series Empire as well as Michael Bivins within BET’s The New Edition Story is set to face jail time after pleading guilty to a felony domestic violence case!
According to court documents obtained by TMZ Bryshere pleaded guilty to “felony aggravated assault and, as part of his plea agreement, he’s been sentenced to 10 days in county jail and 3 years probation.”
He’s also been ordered to pay restitution including enrolling in a domestic violence offender program.
In July 2020 Bryshere was accused of assaulting a woman identified as his wife for hours. She ultimately escaped their Phoenix home and flagged down police officials seeking for help. He then had a long standoff with SWAT team members and Crisis Management Officials.
After hours of refusing to exit the home the actor surrendered the following morning and was booked into Maricopa County Jail for charges of aggravated assault (strangulation), assault (domestic violence), and disorderly conduct.
Bryshere is required to submit a drug test, not allowed to possess any weapons or firearm within his probation period.
He must also check in with his probation officer 72 hours after being contacted by law enforcement and receive written approval before interacting with anyone with a criminal record.
