History has been made as the Miss USA pageant officially crowned Miss USA 2020 to the first Black Woman representing Mississippi!
University of Mississippi student and Booneville native Asya Branch, 22 was crowned Miss USA Monday evening at Elvis Presley’s Graceland located in Memphis, Tennessee within a live recording
Sources have confirmed that the original pageant was scheduled to take place months ago, however it was pushed back due to the uncertain extremes experienced within the global pandemic. It has been indicated that serious precautions were taken throughout the showcase in order to keep attendees safe from spreading of the virus.
Reports read that Asya received her ground breaking win as she was crowned by Miss USA 2019 winner Chelsie Kryst. This year’s first runner up was Miss Idaho USA Kim Layne and second runner up Miss Oklahoma USA Mariah Jane Davis.
It has been indicated for Asya’s final statement within the pageant prior to her win she spoke upon gun laws while providing her views of what effective change is needed.

Asya will be representing USA in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant.
