The international brand of Amazon has recently confirmed that over 19,000 employees have tested positive for COVID-19!
The company made the groundbreaking announcement on Thursday stating that approximately 19,816 workers have been diagnosed with the virus, reports NBC News. Reports read that those cases accounts for 1.44% of their 1.37 million essential and frontline Amazon and Whole Foods workers.
Sources have confirmed that labor groups and politicians have been requesting for Amazon to release the data and the number of cases in which their workers have contracted the virus for the past few months.
It has been indicated that numerous workers had spoken out publicly in the beginning phases of the pandemic, stating that Amazon as a company wasn’t protecting them from getting sick and demanded facilities with confirmed cases to shut down.
However on numerous accounts Amazon declined to share their data noting that the number would be more powerful if compared to over companies.
“Wide availability of data would allow us to benchmark our progress and share best practices across businesses and industries.”
