After years of dealing with contaminated water that deeply compromised the livelihood of their existence as well as their children; Flint, Michigan crisis victims are set to receive a direct settlement by the state!
According to @thehill the state of #Michigan is expected to pay roughly around $600 million dollars to all water crisis victims.
It has been indicated that further details of the settlement haven’t been forwarded to the public, however there are two unidentified sources who have knowledge of further information.
Sources have confirmed that a large portion of the money will be issued to children who were poisoned by the lead contaminated supply. However thousands of residents will receive an undisclosed amount depending on their evaluated injury.
The Flint water crisis initially began in 2014 following city officials and state leaders decision to change the original water supply from Lake Huron to the Flint River. Reports read that lack of safety precautions led to direct chemicals following in the water and through extremely hazardous pipes.
The contaminated water lead to numerous side effects such as illness, hair loss, and rashes. For years thousands of residents have sued the state and received no results.
Though it has been noted that the water supply has been switched back to Lake Huron and that the pipe line replacement project has been set for completion and was stopped due to the Coronavirus pandemic; that still doesn’t make up for the years of discomfort and unlawful conditions residence were force to live under.
