Award winning gymnast #SimoneBiles has recently directed a few choice words towards members of the toxic culture within society and their ability of intentionally forcing false beauty standards upon both men and women!
Biles took to her personal Instagram account Wednesday afternoon to let the world know that she has no interest in signing up for a beauty competition, reports Blavity. She also highlights that she’d rather society not protest their comments and insecurities on to her upon physical exterior.
Biles goes on to state that her hard work, determination and overall performance should remain the main focus and that false opinions are completely obsolete.
“Let’s talk about competition,” she says. “Specifically, the competition I didn’t sign up for and feel like has become almost a daily challenge for me. And I do not think I’m the only one.”
Biles continues by saying, “I don’t know why but others feel as though they can define your own beauty based on their standards.”
Biles is considered one of the most talented gymnast of our generation, despite her many achievements society has often labeled her within a discrediting manner.
“I’ve learned to put on a strong front and let most of it slide. But I’d be lying if I told you that what people say about my arms, my legs, my body…of how I look like in a dress, leotard, bathing suit or even in casual pants hasn’t gotten me down at times.”
