As the 2020 election slowly but surely creep upon us we can’t stress enough the importance of us all getting out there and securing our vote. However in doing so we also need you guys to pay extra close attention to the running candidates as well as their campaigns, our lives depend on it!
#NewsOne reports Democratic Presidential candidate #BernieSanders recently paid visit to the Historically Black College of Berkeley on Saturday Oct 26th. Sanders was panelist for a question and answer forum based upon the issues of social justice.
Sources have indicated that during the segment Sanders was asked by a Black male student majoring in sports management a specific question that he was ironically unprepared for.
Oooohhhhh, so all those victims of police shootings were… just asking for it… Gotcha

” If I was your son, what advice would you give me the next time I’m pulled over by a police officer?” asked the student. Appearing both flustered and confused Sanders eventually answered by stating, “I would respect what they are doing so that you don’t get shot in the back of the head, but I would also be very mindful of the fact that as a nation, we have got to hold police officers accountable for the actions that they commit.”
He then continues by saying, “I would be very cautious if you were my son in terms of dealing with that police officer, but I would also defend my rights and know my rights and make sure if possible that police officer’s camera is on what goes on.”
Sanders response caused an immediate uproar on twitter as many users commented on not only being displeased with his answer but the lack of preparation to address such a pressing issue. Users were upset with the fact that Sanders implicated that the simple notion of being respectful could possibly keep Black people from being murdered which is simply not true.
However there were social media users who have stated that the climate of Sanders response was spot on, solely because this is what black parents are forced to teach their children on a daily basis in order to stay alive. Users emphasized the fact that Black parents are generally equipped to teach their kids to be polite and respectful no matter the situation when dealing with police. Also highlighting that if any injustice does occur it will be within their best interest to handle it after. The main objective being is to make it out alive.
