According to #PeopleMagazine ; engaged couple and #Maryland natives Edward Nathaniel Holmes, 63 and Cynthia Ann Day ,43 were found completely unresponsive within their hotel room at Playa Nueva Romana on Thursday. Sources have indicated that the Hotel staff was alerted of the couple’s uncertainty after they didn’t respond for their scheduled check out. The couple had been vacationing there since May 31st.
Forwarded reports have indicated that there was no sign of violence upon the couple’s death. The Dominican Republic National Police has stated that an autopsy has concluded that the couple died from a respiratory failure and pulmonary edema. Sources have indicated that high blood pressure medication was found within the room.
The hotel has forwarded a public statement to say, “We are deeply saddened by the incident at one of our hotels in La Romana, Dominican Republic, and want to express our deepest condolences to their family and friends.”
