A Florida pastor is facing serious criminal charges after authorities say he sexually abused a 14-year-old boy he met online!
According to Sheriff Grady Judd, an investigation began after authorities received a cyber tip regarding inappropriate activity between an adult and a child.
Officials identified St. James United American Free Will Baptist Church pastor, Timothy Chane communicated with the minor online before the abuse occurred.
In an interview with the police the young teen revealed he met Timothy through a dating app and that they continued talking on Instagram.
Investigators confirm that Timothy picked up the teen from his neighborhood three times and then drove to his home and abused him.
The 42-year-old was arrested on July 29th as he returned to an Orlando airport. Timothy had been out of town working as a chaplain and presided over a funeral. He is said to have told the teen in a phone call that he wanted to continue to having intercourse with him but that he’d be out of town due to work.
Detectives obtained a warrant for Timothy’s arrest and teamed up with the Orlando Police to bring his in.
Authorities have confirmed that Timothy confessed to sexually abusing the teen. Detectives also confirmed that he is HIV positive and didn’t disclose that information to the child or another man he had been with.
In separate case, a 26 year old man reported to authorities he had sex with Timothy and later learned he had HIV.
The child has since imdetgmmmm medical treatment to prevent infection. Sadly, the 36 year old has since tested positive for HIV.
As of now Timothy has been charged with three counts of lewd battery of a minor, three counts of interfering with custody of a minor, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, three counts of traveling to meet a minor, four counts of an HIV-infected person having sex without informing a partner, possession of marijuana, and five counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is currently being held on more than $350,000 bond.
