A Houston, Texas, DoorDash driver is being praised online after finishing a customer’s food delivery moments after she was hit by a driver in the middle of a police chase.
Footage from a nearby home shows the driver stepping out of her vehicle before noticing a gray sedan speeding toward her, with Houston police following closely behind.
“I was on the phone with my husband, and I just hear somebody crash,” said Lily Portillo, whose cameras captured the incident. “So I’m like, wait a minute, I heard something from police. When he came out from my door, I think it was HPD parked on my mulch, like what happened here!”
The vehicle then crashes into her, sending her to the ground. Despite being hit, the driver still completed the delivery.
Authorities identified the suspect as Torrance Whitaker.
According to ABC News, the 34-year-old was wanted in connection with an armed robbery and attempted to run away from police following a traffic stop in the 13000 block of Northborough Drive.
Court documents show Whitaker has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with the collision involving the DoorDash driver.
