Safety First! Jay-Z Speaks On Delayed ‘Extra Innings’ Show!

Noir Nation, while fans packed Yankee Stadium for Jay-Z’s highly anticipated “Extra Innings” concert, they were left waiting for hours after a reported security breach!

Jay-Z third and final show apart of his Yankee stadium takeover, was expected to begin at 8 p.m. however it ultimately didn’t kickoff until more than four hours later, as thousands of concertgoers remained outside while security worked to regain control of the situation.

According to ABC News, the delay was trigged by chaos at multiple stadium entrances with more than 10,000 ticketless individuals rushing the gates.

One fan described the scene, saying they initially waited at Gate 2 before people “bum-rushed” the entrance, bypassing security checkpoints. After moving to another gate, they said the same situation occurred again, leaving thousands of fans with actual tickets stranded outside as officials temporarily shut down access points.

Ultimately, the show began a little after midnight with Jay-Z addressing fans directly to apologize about the delay.

The Brooklyn native thanked fans for their patience and explained that the decision to postpone the concert was made with one priority in mind: keeping everyone safe. “I didn’t want to start music and people get trampled… I had to make sure everyone was OK.”

Jay expressed that the delay was necessary until security confirmed it was safe for fans to enter.

Despite the delay felt by fans both inside and outside of the stadium, the wait was extremely worth it. Fans were able to enjoy surprise pop out performances from, Teyana Taylor, Pharrell Williams, Clipse, Rihanna, Usher, Jermaine Dupri, Jeezy and Beyonce.
