These new arrests bring the total number of recaptured inmates to eight out of the ten who broke out.
🏃🏽♂️ Two Inmates Remain At Large:
Authorities are still hunting for the remaining two escapees:
- Derrick Groves
- Age: 28
- Original Charges: Convicted of second-degree murder
- Antoine Massey
- Age: 33
- Original Charges: Charged with domestic abuse involving strangulation, automotive theft, and wanted on suspicion of kidnapping and rape
Officials warn the public that both men should be considered dangerous.
“We are using every available resource to track down these individuals and return them to custody,” said Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson. “We won’t stop until they’re found.”
🧱 How the Escape Went Down:
The breakout occurred over Mother’s Day weekend (May 11–12, 2025) when ten inmates managed to escape from the Orleans Justice Center, reportedly exploiting a malfunctioning security door. Some of the men allegedly changed into civilian clothing and used jail employee information to bypass multiple security checkpoints.
According to internal reports and surveillance reviews, the escape went unnoticed for several hours, sparking intense scrutiny of jail operations and security lapses.
