Yung Miami is turning the page to a new chapter in her life as she continues to take full control of her career in moving forward as a solo artist!
While in conversation with Shannon Sharpe for his ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast, Yung Miami confirmed that she is no longer signed to Pierre ‘P’ Thomas Quality Control. Though she didn’t provide a reason for their split, she did open up to say, “I think as an artist we get a little bit in our heads.”
Shannon chimed in to say,” When you get so much success on that freshman album everybody be expecting——.” Yung Miami added, “They expect so much more and it becomes so much pressure like. People will really strip you away from your personality. They’ll love you and big you up for who you are and then after a while, they’ll tear you down for it.”
Back in August 2024, Yung Miami revealed that Quality Control refused to invest in her solo career as they believe she hasn’t shown much growth since her City Girls days.
“I’m not able to release music right now because it’s like when I try to turn my music in, it’s just like ‘We don’t see no growth in your music’ or ‘You not elevating.’ You know, like ‘the fans you’ve had since years ago, they’re grown now,’” said Yung Miami during an episode of ‘Caresha Please.’
Yung Miami initially began pushing solo singles in 2021 after nearly five years as the rap duo City Girls alongside fellow Miami native JT. Her first solo single, “Rap Freaks,” landed the No. 81 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. She then followed up with another solo single in February 2024 titled “50/50.”
