Serena Williams has been the topic of discussion across social media since her surprise pop-out performance alongside Kendrick Lamar a part of his epic Super Bowl headlining show!

That there my baby daddy and husband. Always got my back. I Love you 🥰,” Serena tweeted in response to her husband Alexis Ohanian defending her. “Gosh I’m so late to the game (I’ve been sick) & busy investing in billion dollar companies and running @WYNbeauty…”

“—-def not dancing to be petty lol. I think I proved 23 times over (not counting 4 gold medals) that I simply don’t have time for petty. All love and respect always nothing negative here.”

The legendary tennis player surprised viewers as she elegantly C-walked to Kendrick’s ‘Not Like Us’ during the Super Bowl 59 halftime show.

Despite countless viewers enjoying the moment in Serena and Kendrick coming together to celebrate the culture of their hometown of Compton, the 43-year-old caught major backlash. The viral moment was perceived differently as some social media users accused her of of being intentionally petty towards her ex-boyfriend Drake.

Kendrick was also accused of using her as a puppet in his ongoing beef with the Canadian rapper.

Alexis came to Serena’s defense online as social media users continued to chime in with criticism.

Some of y’all have no idea how criticized Serena was for this same dance at Wimbledon 13 years ago and it shows…. This is bigger than the music.”

Alexis further explained in sharing an excerpt from a Fox News article that Serena was called disrespectful for c-walking following a tennis match over ten years ago.
