With an audience of over 130 million viewers, it’s no shock that the designer flare bottoms jeans were an instant hit, selling out in less than three days.
According to reports from TMZ, the jeans Kendrick wore on Sunday during his performance at the Superdome in New Orleans cost $1,200. The Los Angeles native hit the stage wearing French luxury fashion house Celine’s ‘Marco’ styled jeans in dark union wash denim. He is said to have chosen a size 29 in the women’s fit.
The 37 year old paired the luxury denims with a vintage Deion Sanders Nike Air DT MAx sneakers and a Gloria jacket.
‘Gloria ‘ is the name of the closing track on Kendrick’s latest released project GNX. But the symbolism doesn’t end there, According to Genius, “Gloria” is a metaphor in recognition of Kendrick’s pen game paired with his skills as a lyricist.
Sources state this isn’t the first time the two powerhouses have come together to further impact fashion and music. Kendrick’s brand pgLang and Celine have a longstanding relationship as they began collaborating three years ago in 2022.
The New York Post reports within 48 hours of the Super Bowl, Google searches for “flared jeans” spiked 5,000%.
“Y2K style is back,”says men’s fashion director for Bloomingdales to The Post. “Kendrick’s flared denim and varsity jacket nailed the vibe.”
“These vintage-inspired silhouettes bring nostalgia back in a cool, modern way, and we’ve seen a definite surge in interest since the halftime performance,” he added.
