A Georgia family is currently searching for answers after their 6-year-old daughter is said to have walked around school for hours wearing only a T-shirt and underwear!
According to reports from WISTV-10 News, Avishsye Davis says that she had sent her daughter Aylah fully dressed wearing a shirt and shorts to school last Friday. However, when she returned home Aylah wasn’t wearing her shorts.
“I was mad, but I was more shocked than anything,” she said.
Aylah’s parent state that after contacting the school out of concern, they were made aware that their daughter had been walking around in a T-shirt and underwriting noon til 3 pm when she left school.
“How can you look over my 6-year-old daughter in just a T-shirt and panties, socks and shoes for three hours?” said Aylah’s dad, Daman Bell.
Reports read that Baker County School’s principal Jeff Henderson explained that the entire situation was an apparent accident. “We’ve never had this happen before.”
Sources state that the school had hosted a chalk party and students’ clothing got messy. Aylah’s parents were asked to bring an extra shirt for her to change into. The 6 year old says that she had forgotten to put her shorts back in when she was told to change.
Principal Henderson says Aylah‘s teacher didn’t realize she wasn’t wearing bottoms.
“Her shirt was long. It went almost to her knee, and she was not fully exposed or anything like that throughout the day,” said Henderson.
It has been indicated that School police alongside the Baker County Sheriff’s Office have reviewed school cameras to ensure nothing happened to Aylah while she didn’t have on pants.
Henderson confirms that the student’s safety was never compromised.
“We care about their concerns and the safety of our students. We learned from this. It’s a big learning experience for everyone that this took place. It was never intentional – no way, shape, form, this would ever happen,” he said
Aylah’s parents are currently waiting to hear back from deputies as they continue to review all school footage. They’ve also communicated that they won’t stop speaking out regarding their concerns.
