Jon B Speaks On New Generation Sampling His Hit “They Don’t Know” ; Says He Never Cleared Gunna And Chloe Bailey Collab “You & Me”

Cousins, Jon B sure didn’t hold back while sharing his feelings towards folks sampling his epic 90s R&B jam ‘They Don’t Know’!

In a recent interview with Can We Talk RNB, Jon shared how influential the record has been throughout the last three decades and how each year it is sampled by the new generation of artists.

While recognizing the love and admiration new snook artists have for the timeless hit Jon expressed he’s not a fan of all the remakes.

Jon also revealed that Gunna never got clearance for his sampling of the song back in 2022 for his collab with Chloe Bailey.“They put that ratchet record out that I couldn’t stand, and I wish they never did.”

“[They] never actually got my rights to do that record either,” said Jon. “..so Gunna – we gotta holla about that. That’s some business s— we gotta handle.”

He added, “If you made a hit in your area – you do your song, whatever it is – I’m not going to just come into your area, take your joint and make it mine and not pay you or whatever.”

Gunna and Chloe weren’t the only artists to catch a stray from Jon in the interview as he also seemingly called out Justin Timberlake. While discussing Justin’s new single “ No Angels” Jon expressed how uninterested he was in the record.

 “That new single is trash,” he stated. “I’m not feeling his music at all anymore. And the video is even more trash.”
