According to TMZ the tragic news of Hagler’s passing was posted on his fan club page via Facebook on Saturday within a statement that read, “I am sorry to make a very sad announcement. Today unfortunately my beloved husband Marvelous Marvin passed away unexpectedly at his home here in New Hampshire. Our family requests that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”

It has been indicated that the statement was signed by his wife Kay.

There has been no details forwarded at this time of the exact cause of his death, however Hagler’s son James states that his dad was experiencing issues with breathing and chest pains.

He goes on to say that his dad was taken to a local hospital in New Hampshire where he passed away nearly four hours later.

Hagler will forever be remembered as one of the greatest athletes to ever walk the earth. He held a momentous career in boxing and reigned as the middle weight champion of the world from 1980 to 1987.
