Update: Jordan Chiles Forced To Return Bronze Medal; USPOC Set To Appeal Decision As Video Evidence Shows Inquiry Was Submitted On Time!

Cousins! The Court of Arbitration for Sport has made a decision regarding gymnast Jordan Chiles and the final floor exercise at the Paris Olympics!

According to NBC News, the court has ruled to void the previously issued appeal by Jordan’s coach that shifted her into third place. They’ve ruled that the appeal was submitted a whopping four seconds later than the initiated 1-minute time limit for scoring inquiries.

In response, the International Gymnastics Federation has moved Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu to third place.

“The initial error occurred in the scoring by FIG, and the second error was during the CAS appeal process, where the USOPC was not given adequate time or notice to effectively challenge the decision,” said the USOPC on Sunday following the ruling.

However USA Today reports, that a new video shows that Jordan’s coach, Cecile Landi, submitting the inquiry into her score before the one-minute deadline around 47 seconds after her score was announced.

“The time-stamped, video evidence submitted by USA Gymnastics Sunday evening shows Landi first stated her request to file an inquiry at the inquiry table 47 seconds after the score was posted, followed by a second statement 55 seconds after the score was originally posted,” USA Gymnastics said in its statement.

The video has been forwarded as part of a formal letter, to the Court of Arbitration for Sport as a request to reinstate Jordan’s score of 13.766 and allow her to keep her bronze medal.
