Cousins! Dance Hall legendary artist Vybz Kartel is officially a free man!
“The feeling of just being free is an amazing feeling. Lisa, it’s so surreal I have to pinch myself just to see that I’m awake,”said Vybz in his first interview since being released.
According to Fox News, a unanimous decision was made late last month, June 31st within the court of appeals in Jamaica ruling against a retrial for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams since the victim’s body was never found.
As we previously reported back in March Vybz‘s life sentence in jail had been overturned following reports of juror misconduct.
Obtained court documents confirm that a juror had allegedly attempted to bribe others during the 2014 murder trial, by offering 500,000 Jamaican dollars to help push a specific outcome regarding the case.
According to the Privy Council, Vybz was ultimately convicted in 2014 for Clive’s 2011 murder.
Vybz shares that he is eager to step back into the music scene as he’s written countless songs since his time away.
“We have albums worth of songs, a lot of writing about the situation, not about the situation, a plethora of lyrics,” Vybz said.
He’s also devoted to taking control of his health and reconnecting with his children.
“I just want to say to the fans, thank you for the love, thank you for being there by my side, to my extended family, thank you for having faith in me,” Vybz added.
