Cousins! A 20-year-old male has officially turned himself into local authorities following the senseless stabbing of a teenage girl after she rejected his advances!
20-year-old Veo Kelly has been charged with murder, assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. According to the New York Post, Veo turned himself in alongside his lawyer at the 78th Precinct following the fatal stabbing of 19 year old Samyia Spain.
As we previously reported the tragic incident took place outside of Slope Natural Plus Deli on Fourth Avenue near St. Marks Place around 2 AM on Sunday, March 17th.
It has been stated that as Veo exited a nearby catering hall he had approached twin sisters Samyia and Saniya as they walked to a local deli.
The Spain twins alongside their brother and a friend had stepped out of their family game night as they made their way to the deli to grab food. Saniya told authorities that Veo began to follow Samiya.
“I grabbed her phone and I was like, ‘Come with me, come with me,’” Sanyia Spain said. “I was like, ‘Why are you talking to that boy?’ She said, ‘I don’t want to talk to that boy.’”
In efforts of getting Veo off of their backs Samyia is said to have given him her Instagram handle. It has been indicated that the sisters had met him earlier in the night at the local club, and that they did not know him personally.
“She said she wasn’t going to follow him back,” said Sanyia. “That’s it. She said ‘no.’”
Sources state that upon being rejected Veo snapped and went into a crazy rage.
“This guy came out of a party hall down the street, got very aggressive with one of the girls trying to get some contact information,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny told reporters Thursday.
“When they didn’t take to his advances, he got verbal, then he got physical.”
Samiya was stabbed in her chest and neck, sadly she later passed away at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Saniya was stabbed in her arm where she was treated and then released.
“They oughta kill his ass, that’s how I feel,” said Lorraine Holloway, a woman who knew the victim since since she was a baby. “They oughta kill his ass because that was senseless what he did. That didn’t make no sense. That is an innocent child. Because she didn’t want to talk to you, that gives you the right to do that? That’s murder. They don’t make no sense.”
Reports read that Veo has a criminal history of prior arrests and acts of violence against women. In July of 2023, he was accused of attacking his former 18-year-old girlfriend in a Lower Manhattan area near Pier 25 Marina.
The victim says that she had been playing a game of Uno with her friend when Veo approached them and said, “It’s about to get wicked, where’s the party at?”
A woman who is said to have been an acquaintance of Veo threw his ex-girlfriend to the ground and kicked her.
Police report that Veo then grabbed his ex-girlfriend’s bag off of her shoulder, tossed her belongings, dumped her phone into a nearby River, and tased her in the leg.
Court documents confirmed that he was arrested a few weeks later and charged with second-degree robbery along with second-degree attempted gang assault.
Despite prosecutor’s request to have Veo remain in police custody on $20,000 bail, Judge John Zhuo Wang granted him a supervised release with electronic monitoring, says the Manhattan DA’s Office.
Veo was arrested two months later in September for attacking another woman in Far Rockaway, Queens. However details of the incident haven’t been disclosed as officials believe the case has been sealed, and the charges were dropped.
A tenant that lives in the same building as Veo called him a “troublemaker.”
“He has friends hanging out late at night,” the man said. “They smoke weed in the lobby and in the courtyard, they sit on the steps….. I’m coming in day in and day out and I have to walk through them.”
The man adds that though he has known Veo for a long time he is still shocked that he would take someone’s life.
“He’s 20 years old. I still can’t believe it,” he said. “I could see him going in the wrong direction but I never thought it would get this bad, so toxic…..to actually kill somebody.”
“There is no one in his family like that except for him,” the man added. “I know his mother. We say hi…she’s quite respectable. [The family is] good, no problems at all.”
The tenant continued, “How could you do that?”
“Because someone rejected you? He is always hanging around these girls. He’s a good-looking boy.”
“This is unforgivable. This is a tough, a tough one.”

Sleep in peace Samyia, our prayers remain with her family.
