Cousins! New York City police officials are currently on the hunt for a male responsible for stabbing two twin sisters over the weekend after they declined his advances!
The tragic ordeal took place early Sunday morning around 2:30 AM as 19-year-old twins Samyia and Sanyia Spain entered Slope Natural Plus Deli, located near 77 4th Avenue. According to the NBC New York, the sisters had left a party and were picking up food as with plans to head home.
An eyewitness states that the unidentified male had attempted to talk to the teens but they were uninterested and rejected him.”He walked down the block angry. And then two or three minutes later he comes up and starts banging and kicking on the glass door trying to get in,” said the witness to NBC New York.
Reports read that an employee of the deli had locked the door but moments later the man returned. “The second they opened the door, he ran back into the door and started attacking them,” the witness added.
“They’re not sober. They get rejected and they just escalate it ten-fold. We (were) all having a good night before this,” said another witness.
“We just had left and we went to the store to get food. We all were getting sandwiches, beef patties just to eat, we’re hungry, we want to go home and this happens.”
Samyia was stabbed in both her neck and chest and Saniya was stabbed in her arm. The sisters were rushed to New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Sadly, Samyia succumbed to her injuries as her sister remains in stable condition.
“EMS responded and transported the aided females to New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital where one female victim was pronounced deceased, and the second female victim was listed in stable condition,” police said in an issued statement to PEOPLE. “There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing at this time.”
Saniya recalled the tragic incident, “He had a knife in his hand and was saying, ‘I’m gonna stab y’all in the face. I’m telling everyone to back up. And he pushed little Samyia to the ground.”
“”She said, ‘I’m about to faint,'” Sanyia said. “As soon as she said ‘I’m about to faint,’ I called 911.”
According to NY Post, back in 2021 a 51-year-old woman named Nichelle Thomas was murdered following a point-blank shooting as she entered the same deli in Park Slope.
“They better catch him, she don’t deserve that. We’re all taking it very hard,” said the girls Godmothe . “My daughter, she’s taking it pretty hard. We never expect nothing like this to happen.”
Deli employee Mohammed Alba said that the two girls had been longtime customers.
“They’re very nice. I know their father, too. They come here all the time, customers for maybe over, I would say, over 10 years I know them,” he said. “Take somebody else’s life, a young lady, 19 years old, a beautiful girl.”
