Cousins! Oklahoma country music radio station 100.1 FM- KYKC has found themselves on the right side of WRONG after being called out on social media for refusing to play Beyonce‘s latest released single “Texas Hold, ‘Em’”

A Twitter (X) user by the name of Justin McGowan went viral this week after sharing that he had emailed KYKC radio station requesting for Bey’s new Country tune to be played. Unfortunately, the social media shared an email he received in response from KYKC stating that the station doesn’t play Beyonce.

“I requested Texas Hold ‘Em at my local country radio station (KYKC) and after requesting, I received an email from the radio station stating “We do not play Beyoncé on KYKC as we are a country music station,” shared Justin.

“•@1001KYKC This is absolutely ridiculous and racist. You guys should be ashamed. I grew up listening to your station,” he added.

“This station needs to be held accountable for their blatant racism and discrimination against Beyoncé.”

According to The Shaderoom, Justin responded back to the radio station by requesting them to stop discriminating against Beyonce and letting them know that Black people created country music.

“‘Texas Hold ‘Em is a new song and it is a country song. It is also labeled as country on Spotify and Apple Music. Please play this song and stop being discriminatory towards her. (By the way, Black people created country music.)”

As we previously reported Beyonce announced to fans during a Super Bowl commercial with Verizon that she is set to gearing up to release a country music album! With the release of TWO new tunes ‘Texas Hold Em’ and ‘16 Carriages’ , Bey also announced the official release date of ACT II.

The conversation continued further within the email thread as an employee responded back to Justin. “We will check it out. If it’s appropriate to the format, we will play it. Meanwhile, we play tons of Beyoncé on our 99.3 station and lots more on our 105.5 station, so… “discriminatory” we are not. Thanks.”

The Shaderoom reports that KYKC explained within an exclusive statement that had no international of dismissing Beyoncé’s artistry and that they issued a generic reply because they were unaware of her newly released country tunes.

“If someone emailed our country station and requested a Rolling Stones song, we would have probably replied the same. Beyoncé is known for NOT being a country artist, so we just replied to that effect.”

The statement continues, “But…we are actually excited that she has ‘crossed over’ to a new genre and we will watch it closely to see if bigger stations start playing it and to watch it on the chart. We do play the song on our Top 40 station, KXFC, but haven’t added it yet to our country station. We are big Beyoncé fans here and really hope it does well, as we like seeing new artists get into the format.”

After going viral on social media for the trending exchange, KYKC took to Twitter (X) to announce that they would be playing Beyoncé’s single ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’
