Cousins! Actor Jonathan Majors is maintaining his innocence despite a recent conviction in allegedly assaulting his former girlfriend Grace Jabbari!

In a newly released interview with Good Morning America, Jonathan admits that he was shocked and afraid after hearing the verdict.

“I’m standing there and the verdict comes down. I say, ‘How is that possible based off the evidence, based off the prosecution’s evidence, let alone our evidence? How is that possible?” said Jonathan told ABC News Live anchor Linsey Davis.

Jonathan found guilty of one count of misdemeanor third-degree assault and one count of second-degree harassment, but acquitted of two other counts of assault and aggravated harassment in a split verdict, reports ABC News. He says that he plans to file for an appeal.

As the ‘Creed III’ actor awaits his sentencing he says that he decided to publicly speak out after the trial in efforts of beginning his healing process.

“I’m really blessed. I’m surrounded by people who love me, who care about me. But this has been very, very, very hard, and very difficult, and confusing in many ways,” Majors said. “But I’m standing.”

With teary eyes, Jonathan revealed that he’s been unable to see his daughter due to the excess of legal matters.

“Everything has kinda gone away. And it’s just me now, you know, and my lovely, you know, partner, Meagan [Good], and my dogs.”

ABC News reports that the altercation began with an argument that allegedly turned physical. Grace testified in court that she saw a text on Jonathan’s cell phone that read, “I wish I was kissing you.”

Grace said that Jonathan pulled her right hand behind her back while holding the phone in her left.”It just felt like he was twisting my arm and my hand and trying to make me feel pain.”

Alongside her legal team, Grace argues that Jonathan allegedly fractured her finger while showing jurors photos taken by police of her injuries, which also included a cut to her ear and a bruised, swollen finger.

Further in the conversation, Jonathan admitted to mistakes he personally made within his relationship with Grace, but denies twisting her arm or causing any other physical injuries.

“She went to grab the phone. I held the phone. I pulled the phone back. She came on top of me, squeezed my face, slapped me. That’s all I remember.”

The 32-year-old expressed that he was reckless with her heart and wishes that he was more forthcoming in telling her the truth.

“I wish to god I knew. That would give clarity. That would give me some type of peace about it,” he said.

“I’m an athlete. I’m a sportsman. I know my body. I know how it moves. I know my strength, or lack thereof, you know? None of that was employed on her.”

However, Jonathan says that he did not assault or attack Grace and that he wishes he knew where her marks and injuries came from.

Jonathan is scheduled to be sentenced for the two guilty counts on Feb. 6 as he faces up to a year in prison.
