Cousins! Teyana Taylor has officially confirmed that she has taken strides towards divorcing Iman Shumpert!
The 32-year-old songstress took to Instagram and Twitter on November 24th to share a statement responding to shared court documents of her divorce.
“I mind my business, don’t bother nobody & y’all know I’ve never played about my children, family & our privacy,” Taylor began the post. “I have not spoken on this private matter to any media outlets or blogs etc.,” Teyana wrote.
“So everyone claiming ‘Teyana said’ didn’t get any statements directly from ME,” she continued. “These statements were taken from private court documents that were leaked to the public. It is very heartbreaking that someone would take out the time to make such a private matter public for the world to see.”
Teyana continued by saying, “Protecting my family is one thing I’ve ALWAYS done & for my children I will continue to do so.”
“Please if y’all love y’all play nieces Junie & Rue like y’all have shown, please allow my self & my family some privacy to resolve this matter in peace,” the mother of two, concluded, “Love y’all.”
As we previously reported, news of Teyana’s January petition for divorce were shared by TMZ earlier this week. With on the obtained documents, Teyana is said to have accused Iman of being a serial cheating narcissist who she claims is jealous of her career.
Teyana’s lawyer Mitchell Graham has also released a written statement on her behalf, “Ms. Taylor has tried to resolve this matter amicably and privately in order to protect all parties involved, particularly the parties’ minor children.”
“Ms. Taylor requests that the parties’ privacy be respected such that the parties and their minor children are not negatively impacted, and the parties’ divorce can be finalized.”
Back in September Teyana announced that the two had separated following seven years of marriage.
“AHT AHT! Not too much on my bestie! In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while. To be 1000% clear, “infidelity” ain’t one of the reasons for our departure.”
Teyana explained that she and Iman’s split was mutual and that they were still best friend’s “We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children. Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married we ain’t ever played with or about THAT. We just keep y’all asses out the group chat lol, which is the reason we’ve been able to successfully & peacefully separate without all of the outside noise.
“The only reason I’m even sharing THIS part of the chat is because the narratives are getting a little out of hand & it’s unfair to all parties involved. I hope this provided some clarity for y’all.“
The former NBA all-star hasn’t directly responded to the leaked details of their pending divorce, however he did share a two cryptic messages on Instagram.
Within an Instagram story Iman wrote, “ NO MATTER WHAT’S BROUGHT YOUR WAY IN THIS LIFE
…IF U CAN BREATHE…
DON’T RUN.”
Iman’s attorney Stephen C. Steele shares with TMZ that, “Mr. Shumpert hopes parties and counsel can work toward a fair resolution, keeping the best interests of the children of paramount concern.”
