Cousins! A Michigan male known across social media for publicly outing sexual predators was fatally shot after confronting a person for allegedly preying on a teenage girl!
Robert Wayne Lee also known as “Boopac Shakur” held a combined platform of over 60,000 followers across Facebook and Instagram. He is said to have used tactics such as posing as a 15-year-old girl online in effort of exposing potential predators ultimately leading to their arrests.
According to reports from CNN, the tragic ordeal occurred on Friday, September 29th around 1030 PM in Pontiac, Michigan. Robert is said to have approached two individuals as they sat at a round table. An issued statement from the sheriff’s office details that Robert had accused an 18-year-old male of being a pedophile.
The confrontation is said to have escalated rapidly, with Oakland County Sheriff officials declaring that Robert punched one of the two males. The 17-year-old male that was punched pulled out a knife, while the 18-year-old male pulled out a pistol and began firing.
Robert was shot several times and was taken to a local hospital where he had died later from his injuries.
The two teens fled the scene and were arrested the following day confirmed police. Sources state that neither of the teen boys’ identities have been released at this time.
Though the 40-year-old has been crowned a town hero for his courageous efforts to help save the youth from sexual predators, police officials warn that Robert’s series of missions were extremely dangerous.
CNN reports that at least one of Robert’s missions led to the arrest of a former police officer who is currently facing charges.
Robert’s “one-man crusade has led to the arrest and criminal charges being filed against several men,” said police.
“he has also mistakenly identified someone as a sexual predator who was not.”
“While we certainly understand his desire to hold child predators accountable, many times well intentioned individuals who engaged in this don’t know the standard of evidence required for convictions and often underestimate the potential for violence confronting a suspected predator,” says Sheriff Michael Bouchard.
A verified GoFundMe account has been established on Robert’s behalf for his young daughter. The fundraiser’s listing details that all donated funding will help assist, “her with the opportunities and education that Robert dreamt of for her.”
