Cousins! It is with a truly heavy heart that we inform you all that 702 group member Irish Grinstead has passed away!

Irish’s sister and fellow group member LeMisha Grinstead revealed the tragic news this evening.

“It is with great sadness that I have to let you know that my beautiful sister and friend has passed away this evening. She has had a
long battle and she is finally at peace. That girl wasas bright as the stars,” LeMisha wrote on Instagram.

“She was not only beautiful on the outside, but also within. Sharing the stage with her was a joy I will cherish for the rest of my life! We, the family ask for prayers and respect for our privacy as we grieve an outstanding loss to our family.”

The cause of Irish’s death hasn’t been revealed at this time. A 702 fan page on Instagram announced towards the end of 2022 that she had fallen ill and would be taking a medical leave from the group’s upcoming performances.

“We regret to inform you that at this time Irish
Grinstead will be taking a medical leave of absence due to serious medical issues. It is our hope that she will have a healthy and speedy recovery in the months to come,” reads the post from December 2022.

Back in 2008, the Grinstead family endured a devastating loss as Irish’s twin sister and founding member of 702, Orish passed away due to kidney failure at 27 years old.

702 dominated the early 90’s with a string of classic R&B hit songs such as “Where My Girls At?” , “Get It Together” and more. Their hit song “All I Want” was featured a part of the ‘Good Burger’ soundtrack. 702’s song “Steelo” was also the theme song to the legendary Nickelodeon series ‘Cousin Skeeter’

Cousins, join us in sending Irish’s family our deepest condolences and prayers.
