Family Mourns The Death Of Missing 13 Year Old Boy As His Body Is Tragically Discovered In The Harlem River!

Cousins! The ongoing search for two missing New York City boys has taken a tragic turn as one of their bodies has recently been discovered within the Harlem River!

According to CBS News, 13 year old Garrett Warren and 11 year old Alfa Barrie were last seen alive side by side within the Harlem area of New York City last Friday April 12th on a surveillance camera by a fish market on 145th Street and Lenox Avenue. The two didn’t attend the same school and had became friends through the neighborhood.

It has been stated that Garrett and Alfa went back to Garrett’s home in Harlem around 1:30 a.m. and left again to play basketball. Ultimately they were last seen passing the fish market together.

Following a week’s long search for the two young boys, Garrett’s lifeless body was recovered from the Manhattan side of the river to the Harbor Unit on Randalls Island at 10:15 AM on Thursday morning. He was taken to the medical examiner’s office where his family identified the body.

Police officials from the 32nd precient forwarded the tragic news of Garrett’s death to his family. Records show that there were no signs of trauma and that foul play is not suspected at this time.

“When they found out, they was in disbelief … The mother just collapsed. She collapsed,” said local community activist Jackie Rowe-Adam.

“Unbelievable, and that’s all the mom kept saying — not her child, that was not her child in the water, she wanted to see her child, she wanted to go view the body, she wanted to see because he wasn’t supposed to be in that water, and that’s all, you know. And it’s, I’m gonna tell you, honestly, that’s the reaction of a mom in disbelief that your child’s not coming home,” Rowe-Adams said.

NYPD officials declare that a search for Alfa is still ongoing and that an investigation into Garrett’s death. They are currently searching on both land and water with the use of drones, boats and helicopters alongside the barriers of the river.

It has been indicated that the water is ‘murky’ and is making it difficult for officials to see beyond an arm’s length away as hey are currently using their hands as guides while underwater.

“The family of the 11-year-old, they’re staying hopeful. They’re staying hopeful,” Rowe-Adams said.

According to reports from NBC News, Police state that Alfa was last seen wearing a navy sweater with a “Democracy Prep Harlem Middle School” logo, gray pants and gray sneakers, police say. He has been reported missing since Mother’s Day.

His sister explained that Alfa had went to school on Friday and left a little after 12PM due to a half day. She says he was supposed to meet up with his 14-year-old sister, who also attends the same school as him and that they were suppose to walk home together. Unfortunately Alfa never showed up

“This is something he has never done. This is all new to us. We have no idea what’s going on, he’s a sweet little boy,” said Alfa’s sister, Fatima Diallo. “Everything that’s happening right now, I can’t comprehend what’s going on.”
