Cousins! Don Lemon has taken to social media to confirm that after nearly two decades he’s been terminated from his position as a news anchor with CNN!
Despite the overall shocking news Don’s termination comes just a few short weeks after he was accused of mistreating his former female colleagues throughout his career—- including backlash received from a previous on air segment; reports NBC News.
“ I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN. I am
stunned,” reads Don’s issued statement on Twitter.
The 57 year old reveals that he was notified by his agent of the termination earlier this morning. “After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play.”
In response to Don’s termination CNN CEO Chris Licht expressed that the network has decided to have “parted ways,” with the former news anchor.
“Don will forever be a part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years,” read the issued statement. “We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors.”
According to a report from Variety published earlier this month, a series of women had came forward with a long list of allegations directed at the claimed behavior exhibited by Don.
The article included over a dozen former colleagues paired with current colleagues that described Don as being purposely hostile towards women including having a diva like attitude. It has been indicated that the accusers have remained anonymous and kept their identity under wraps.
In response to the forwarded allegations a spokesperson for Don said in a statement forwarded to NBC News that the report was “amazing and disappointing that Variety would be so reckless.”
“The story, which is riddled with patently false anecdotes and no concrete evidence, is entirely based on unsourced, unsubstantiated, 15-year-old anonymous gossip,” reads the statement.
Don has also come forward in denying the issued claims.
It has not been confirmed whether or not his termination is connected to Variety’s published article as there’s been no official word of if CNN launched a private investigation into the surrounded allegations.
Cousins, are you going to miss seeing Don on your television screens and timelines reporting updated news each day.
