Cousins! A former MMA fighter Dwayne Herelle Jr. has recently been arrested and charged for the brutal murder of his former girlfriend!
Reports from the New York Post the fatal incident took place in Tennessee after an argument erupted outside of 24 year old Irene Torres parent’s home within the early morning hours of January. 29th. Metro Nashville Police Detective Derry Baltimore said within a recent court hearing that the former couple had gotten into an argument moments before the attack.
According to a description on a GoFundMe account established by Irene’s sister Reyna Douglas; Dwayne waited for her to come home from a shift at work and ultimately, “snuck up from behind and ambushed her.” She says that Irene broke up with him one month prior to her death and that Dwayne was physically and verbally abusive.
The description continues in saying, “She was dragged and stabbed repeatedly in front of her [parents’] home.”
Irene’s parents are said to have reviewed surveillance footage from their home after noticing she didn’t come home. They told local officials that they saw Dwayne drag their daughter out of the camera frame.
Irene’s dad says he confronted Dwayne who had originally said she was at a hotel. He later confessed that he had murdered her and that he had stored her body within his closet.
Officials revealed earlier this month that Dwayne had sadly stabbed Irene, “in the excess of 17 times.” He is then said to have dragged her lifeless body into the trunk of his vehicle and drove to home. Dwayne stuffed her remains into a storage bin and placed the bin in his closet.
Detective Baltimore says the athlete also dumped bloody pants and Irene’s purse in a dumpster behind a grocery store.
“While most 24-year-olds are planning their careers, and futures, and are optimistic about the world, Irene spent some of the last months of her young life abused, degraded, terrorized, and fearful,” Reyna wrote. “Irene showed immense bravery in leaving her abusive relationship and was so happy to start her new life with the support of her family, only to be hunted down in her front yard and brutally murdered one month later.”
She described her sister’s death as senseless. “For those that were fortunate to know Irene, despite being terrorized, abused, and living in fear, she always had a smile on her face and a compliment to give.”
