Cousins! There’s been a seemingly unexpected turn within R. Kelly’s previously pending criminal charges in Chicago as a Cook County State attorney has announced that they’ve officially dropped their case against him!

According to breaking reports from WGN9 news, State’s attorney Kim Fox stated earlier today that her office will no longer proceed with the prosecution of the four pending criminal cases against the Chicago native.

It has been indicated that a total of 10 counts have now been dropped as the prosecution team has expressed that Kelly has already received a hefty sentence in regard to his federal conviction in New York. Not to mention that Kelly hasn’t even been sentenced for his conviction in Chicago’s federal court.

“Mr. Kelly is potentially looking at a possibility of never walking out of prison again for the crimes that he’s committed,” Kim stated.

“This office, in the pursuit of justice for the victims in our indictment as well as those across the country, worked tirelessly to get us to this point. While today’s cases are no longer being pursued, we believe that justice has been served and the sentences that have already been handed down to Mr. Kelly, as well as the sentence that will come down next month.”

Back in of February 2019, Kelly was issued four indictments against him by the Cook County grand jury. Reports read that the 56 year old was charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in connection to four alleged victims, three who have been identified as being under the age of consent.

Kim reveals that she had directly communicated with each of the four alleged victims prior to issuing the final decision to drop charges against Kelly. She explained that she was confident that her office would’ve won a conviction.

“We brought the charges believing that we had sufficient evidence to support findings of guilt in the court of law,” said Kim. “That’s why we brought them.”

Though the charges against him have been dropped within this specific case, Kelly is still scheduled for sentencing next month after being found guilty in Chicago for three counts of child pornography last year.

He is also faces charges of engaging in prostitution with a minor and soliciting a minor for sexual purposes in Hennepin County, Minnesota. It has been stated that those charges were temporarily paused as the prosecution team awaited for Kelly’s pending federal cases to be sorted out.
