Jamea’s mom DeCarla Cotton shared on Facebook her belief that the tragic instance took place because her daughter didn’t want to talk to him. “Took my baby life because she wouldn’t talk to him!!!!”

“She was a beautiful young woman who loved her family and most of all her 5-year-old son Kaine,’’ her mom told AL.com. “She was just trying to enjoy her weekend with her cousin that attends the University of Alabama and her boyfriend.”

It has been stated that Darius had attempted to flirt with her Jamea as she sat in a car alongside her boyfriend and cousin. Reports from The Insiders indicate that Darius became upset at Jamea and, “asked don’t you know who I am ?”

Reports read, that the unidentified driver of the vehicle informed local police that he had returned fire in self-defense and had seemingly struck one of the suspects.

“It appears at this time that the shooting was the result of a minor argument that occurred between the victims and suspects after they encountered each other along The Strip,’’ said Tuscaloosa police Capt. Jack Kennedy.

Jamea’s cousin Kennedi Henderson has come forward in saying, “the family and I are just in disbelief that something like this has happened to her. We just ask for prayers at this time.” She described her as being, “a humble soul, and she was always a happy soul.”

Kennedi says Jamea, “kept the cousins together and pushed us to be the best us. She was the best little cousin I can ask for, honestly.”

Jamea was the mother of a 5 year old son named Kaine.

Both suspects are currently in police custody being held at Tuscaloosa County Jail, without bail as they’ve been charged with capital murder.

Our prayers remain with the family 🙏🏿🌹
