Gunna Officially Released From Prison After Pleading Guilty To Racketeering And Gang Related Charges; Sentence Reportedly Commuted To, “Time Served”

Cousins! Atlanta rapper Gunna has officially been released from prison after being swept up in a lengthy indictment issued earlier this year!

According to reports from BBC news, Gunna born Sergio Kitchens has pleaded guilty to charges of Racketeering. However he alongside his attorney share that he has maintained his innocence.

As we previously reported Gunna alongside beloved rapper Young Thug were scheduled to take trial next month for a series of gang activity related to the Atlanta record label YSL.

In return for pleading guilty, Gunna is said to have received a deal within a guilty plea. It has been stated that under U.S legal defendants are able to take a guilty plea in efforts of avoiding trial. Entering trial is noted as being high risk as it could lead to a potentially longer sentence.

Following news of his release, Gunma stated that he has not cooperated with prosecutors or made statements against anyone else involved within the case. “[I] have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”

Gunna stated that he joined the YSL record label back in 2016 based on music creativity. He reveals that he does not consider the label to be a gang. He describes it as a, “group of people from metro Atlanta who had common interests and artistic aspirations”.

“My focus of YSL was entertainment – rap artists who wrote and performed music that exaggerated and ‘glorified’ urban life in the black community.” says Gunna.

It has been stated, Gunna has received a four-year suspended sentence and has been banned from contacting his co-defendants unless it is through his lawyers or record label.

The 28 year old is ordered to perform 500 hours of community service. Which will involve appearances in speaking with youth members in detail about the dark path of gangs.

Gunna states that community service will allow him, “an opportunity to give back to,” his community. While also educating , “young men and women that ‘gangs’ and violence only lead to destruction”.
