A Texas ICU nurse has officially been charged following the fatal car crash that claimed the lives of 6 Los Angeles residents, including a pregnant mother and her 1 year old son!
According to reports from NBC news, Nicole Lorraine, 37 has been charged with 6 counts of murder, five counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross intelligence after speeding through an intersection driving at reportedly 50+ MPH.
A circulated video from the incident captured at a gas station, shows Nicole speeding through a red light and crashing into multiple cars.
Following the tragic incident, Nicole was taken to a local hospital for her injuries. She has since been transferred to Lynwood Century Regional Detention Center where she is being held on $9 million bail.
“Today, we begin the process of holding accountable the person responsible for the deaths of six people, including a pregnant woman, and their families,” stated District Attorney George Gascón in an issued statement Monday. “This is a case that will always be remembered for the senseless loss of so many innocent lives as they simply went about their daily routines.”
Sadly the crash killed pregnant 23-year-old Asherey Ryan; her infant son Alonzo; and her boyfriend, 24-year-old Reynold Lester. Reports read that two women in another car were also killed; their names have not yet been released. An additional six other vehicles were also involved in the crash with several drivers suffered minor injuries.
A witness that was at a gas station pumping gas at the time of the incident shared with authorities that a woman’s body ejected out of the vehicle due to the impact of the crash. She also states that a baby’s body landed in front of her and that she as well as an employee of the gas station attempted to resuscitate him but it was too late.
“I was about to pump gas and all of a sudden, I hear all of the noises from all of the collisions, and then the fire explosion and I saw things, metal and things flying in the air. So, I just covered myself behind the pump,” said Veronica Esquivel.
