Cousins!
We have some great news, Walmart decided to help their customers by reducing the costs of some of their apparel to help with inflation!
The price cut is an attempt to sell most of their products so that customers can focus their attention on purchasing food.
Since COVID-19 and the war on Russia, prices have changed drastically and Americans have focused their attention to necessities: food, gas and other utilities for basic essentials for daily living. So, Walmart has an idea to price cut apparel items with hopes of aiding the economy.
According to The New York Post, Walmart issued a statement on July 25, 2022, in relation to the price cuts:
“The increasing levels of food and fuel inflation are affecting how customers spend, and while we’ve made good progress clearing hardline categories, apparel in Walmart U.S. is requiring more markdown dollars,” Walmart CEO Doug McMillon said in a statement.
While apparel is a necessity, it is not as much of a priority as food, water, gas and other utilities that we use on a daily basis.
Evidently, Customers are not buying clothing in Walmart stores as they did before.
Walmart has updated their projections for the second year and for the upcoming year in 2023, stating that food prices have doubled, and clothing shelves have not made an impact positively on inventory.
