North Carolina mother of eight was mauled to death by two pit bulls who she was dog-sitting at home!
The fatal attack happened after 46-year-old Trena Peed, who recently lost two sons in horrific car crashes two years apart, as she left the dogs outside her backyard at 2 A.M. on Thursday when they dragged her into the backyard.
Neighbors could hear the excruciating cries for help and called 911.
“It’s dark. All I hear is her yelling and her dogs over there attacking her,” a neighbor who called 911 said, according to Fox8. “All I know is that they … they drug her into the dark.”
One of Trena’s sons was reportedly asleep inside the home during the attack and woke up to the tragic news of Peed’s death, as per Daily Mail.
The victim’s mother, Helen Harris, told television station WFMY that she warned her daughter about the two dogs prior to the attack.
“I understand it was not intentional but I just talked to my daughter on Tuesday and I told her you need to get [those] dogs out of your house,” Ms Harris said
The Greensboro police and Guilford County animal control rushed to Peed’s Vance Street home to rescue her, but Trena had passed when they arrived. Police shot dead one pit bull to stop the attack, while animal control took the surviving pit bull into quarantine.
Authorities are still searching for the owner of the pit bulls. Trena’s daughter Waynesha Peed created a GoFundMe to raise money for her funeral expenses.
“My siblings, grandmother, family, and I are heartbroken at her sudden passing … By her faith, she always had a smile on her face that could light up any room, loved to laugh, cook, enjoy life & had a heart of gold,” she wrote.
