Honestly, Nevermind: Baltimore Artist Speaks Out About Her Voice Being Featured On Drake’s New Album With No Credit!

Baltimore, Maryland Artist by the of name Rye Rye, has come forward with claims that Drake has used her voice on his recently released album ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ !!


Rye Rye took to social media following the album’s release to show gratitude and expressed that she is thankful for the opportunity.  “I ain’t been able to hold my sh*t together all ‘morning knowing that I’m sampled on @Drake “Currents” song’’ Her voice is featured on track no. four titled ‘Currents’, you can hear a sample of her voice in the background saying “What. What” from her hit single “Shake it to the ground”

Within a follow up tweet Rye expresses that  she wants to be credited for her voice on his album, “Let’s be clear I ain’t get my credit on that Drake record yet but my team is definitely working on it..” What that consists of, we are not sure. She then continues, “Knowing that Gordo (Drake’s producer) grew up in [MD] and acknowledged/shedded light to our culture but didn’t credit the Baltimore artists from the Baltimore track he sampled from a major album is kinda even more disappointing.”

The project was a surprise for us all seeing how there were no hints, nor release date mentioned beforehand. The dance-themed project is a newly introduced side of Drizzy to his adoring fanbase. On social media he succeeded in having everyone in their feelings’ ‘. Some shared that they loved the album, and some criticized that they have to give ‘Honesty, Nevermind’,  some more plays for the sounds to marinate.

Meanwhile, fans on Rye’s Twitter continue to ask  questions and seek further answers. Though she is excited that she was sampled, it was a surprise to her as it was for us, that Drake would drop an album so unexpectedly.

Rye has been active in sharing that she wants her credit for the use of her voice as she continued to rant on social media, while also making it clear that her statements are not meant to go in on Drake for this, but in letting folks know that her team will correct the issue at hand and get it fixed.

“Let’s get this straight when songs are sampled I know it don’t really be the artist it be the producers mainly already presenting the beat to the artist as is so I’m not going at drake lol it’s a ki my team is hitting up the correct ppl to get it fixed 🙏🏾,” she tweeted.

‘ Honestly, Nevermind’ was released on June 16,2022 at midnight. This project is the Canadian musician’s seventh studio album. 

As of right now there are no confirmed remarks on Drake’s end. Maybe there is some communication amongst their teams behind the scenes. Cousins, we will keep you all updated!
