Singer, and Songstress H.E.R, is suing her record label MBK for allegedly enforcing her contract past its expiration dates, which indeed violates employee rights!

According to Rolling Stone, H.E.R has been signed with the MBK record label since the young age of 14 in which she alleges she has since then been forced under contract.

The Grammy award winning songstress has recently expressed that her contract has since expired in May 2019. She claims that her manager Jeff Robinson, unlawfully bound her to a contract extension without her knowing. It has been reported that Jeff replaced her original legal team with his own.

She alleges that there were negotiations made by the lawyers for touring and her publishing rights, but no written agreement or waiver signed by H.E.R.

Born Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, under the stage name H.E.R, has received four Grammys including song of the year. She has earned her first Oscar award and has won an Academy Award for the Best Original Film Judas and the Black Messiah.  The almost 24-year-old has been on the rise for almost ten years, and has only gotten better within time. Musically, H.E.R has two released albums and five Extended Play albums.

H.E.R won best R&B album and received four other awards including an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award. She began her career with a hidden identity, with the acronym H.E.R which stands for “Having Everything Revealed” revealed to us vocally with her talents as a singer, behind a pair of sunglasses. H.E.R is incognito and is said to prefer to keep her anonymity as a celebrity, therefore this explains why she keeps a low profile.

 It has been indicated that the services were performed as a “favor” to their client Jeff, who received 20% for each commission and the lawyers received only 5%

Under the California Code 2855, the law prohibits enforcement of a contract beyond seven years, H.E.R states that she worked beyond seven years and wants out of the contract. It has also been stated that the contract “has significantly limited Wilson’s employment rights,” and she has been under dictatorship by MKB.
