A young mother’s life has come to a tragic ending as she attempted to save a fellow family member!

According to Fox News local Detroit Police they responded to a call around 3:45AM, following reports that a woman had fell into the Detroit River Canal.

It has been stated that one woman accidentally fell into the river and that two other women jumped in to save her. However one of them now identified as Diamond Shelton, 22-year-old died following the incident. Another woman has been listed in stable condition after saving their friend from the River early Friday morning.

Officials state that the investigation currently reveals that the three women were at Ford Park, near the riverfront. That’s when the first friend is said to have reportedly slipped into the water. The two other women acted immediately jumping into the river to help the first woman, who they successfully assisted out of the water.

Sadly Diamond drowned as she tried her best to rescue the woman identified as her cousin. It has been stated that though she couldn’t swim she still wanted to save her loved one. She leaves behind a 1 year old daughter.

According to WXYZ-TV Channel 7 Diamond’s aunt Denise Williams, has created a GoFundMe page for anyone that wants to help pay for her funeral cost.
