Legendary director and film writer Spike Lee and Colin Kaepernick are joining forces to create some magic on the big screen!

Spike Lee is set to direct a multi-part documentary on athlete and activist for ESPN Films, Variety has confirmed.

Announced in July of 2020, production of the documentary has started as part of Kaepernick’s first-look deal with Walt Disney through his production company, Ra Vision Media.

“Kaepernick, who has never given a full, first-person account of his journey, is collaborating closely with Lee who plans to use extensive new interviews and a vast never-before-seen archive to help Kaepernick tell his story from his perspective,” the press release states.

The “Do The Right Thing” director would not be the first award-winning director to work with the former San Francisco 49ners quarterback. Previously, Kaepernick worked with Ava DuVernay,

for the Netflix series, “Colin in Black & White.” Premiering in October of last year, the series starred Jaden Michael as a young Kaepernick, and portrayed the chronological order of  Kaepernick’s younger years as he navigated through obstacles surrounding race, culture, and class as a Black kid adopted into a White family.

ESPN will executive produce the documentary, with 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, with former ESPN personality Jemele Hill serving as producer.

As of right now we’re sure what the documentary will be centered around, however we are pretty sure it will involve the whole NFL situation.

Cousins, do you look forward to the documentary?
