Tragic Bronx Fire Survivors File First Lawsuit Against Building Landlords, Seeking $1 Billion Dollars In Damages!

Following the tragic Bronx fire that claimed the lives of numerous adult tenants and children; a couple has obtained legal counsel in filing the first official lawsuit against the building’s landlords. Together they claim that the landlords knew of the defective and hazardous conditions while failing to properly address maintain them! them!

According to ABC News the negligence lawsuit filed under class-action status was officially forwarded by the couple of Rosa Reyes and Felix Martinez. Together they detail that they’ve both endured serious injuries.

They are directly accusing the landlords of failing to assure that the front doors of each apartment within the building were able to self-close. Reports read that the suit also alleges the defendants failed to make sure all smoke detectors were fully functioning, failure to ensure fire escapes were in good conditions, failure to provide adequate heat, and alarm systems.

Court documents show that the landlords are also being sued for failure to provide intercom systems throughout the premises, sprinkler systems and failed to provide a electric system in good working condition throughout the premises.

It has been indicated that the couple is alleging that the Department of Buildings paid, “lip service to safety issues and fire issues and are responsible for the resulting injuries and deaths.’

A total of 17 people including 8 children lost their lives from the fire due to smoke inhalation.

They are seeking $1 billion dollars in damages!
