Won’t he do it! Netflix is handing out some blessings to two wonderful individuals. They met unexpectedly and gave us one of our favorite viral Thanksgiving stories to date!
Numerous outlets report that official confirmation was recently by the super-streaming platform, that a feature film titled “The Thanksgiving Text” is in development.
NBC News reports, this heartwarming story is based on a young man named Jamal Hinton, and the unexpected friendship that developed between him and a woman named Wanda Dench, after a random meeting via text.
Hinton tweeted “I am very excited to announce our new partnership with Netflix. We thank every single one of you for your love and support in our journey the last 6 years. We can’t wait to tell our story on the big screen!”
Back in 2015, Dench sent a group text reminding everyone that Thanksgiving dinner would begin at 3pm. Hinton received the text from an unknown number and explained to the media “I thought it was either a wrong number or my grandma learned how to use a phone correctly.” He asked for a photo and when Wand Dench sent him a selfie he responded “you not my grandma. Can I still get a plate tho?” She replied “Of course you can. That’s what grandma’s do …feed every one.” The rest as they say is history!
The two fast friends released a joint statement about the magnificent opportunity that came their way. It stated “We are excited to share our story with the world. We hope it inspires more people to reach out and make connections that they wouldn’t ordinarily make.” Dench and Hinton added “We are so blessed to find a genuine friendship, brought together by God from a mistaken text message.”
They have been doing Thanksgiving annually ever since and the viral community can’t get enough of them! In their fifth year, the giving Grandma unfortunately lost her husband to complications caused by COVID-19. It hasn’t slowed the unlikely duo down one bit though. As they‘ve nown officially shared six consecutive years of traditional dinners together.
