Cousins!
The holiday spirit quickly turned sour on following tragic news that an 18-year-old man was charged with the murder of his mother on Thanksgiving day!
According to Newsweek, Marica Chance, 42, was stabbed to death at her Lawrenceville, Georgia home. Chance’s son, Varian Hibbert, who was there at the scene, was arrested. Hibbert has been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a knife during the commission of a felony. He is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
Once officers arrived on the scene, they found one deceased female inside the residence. Later Chance was confirmed as the deceased female. The authorities confirmed she died of multiple stab wounds. As of right now, there is no motive as to why Hibbert murdered his mom.
Unfortunately, this is not the troubled teen’s first run-in with the law. In August of this year, Hibbert was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property in the 2nd degree, willful obstruction of law enforcement officers by use of threats or violence. Then just shortly after, he was arrested again on similar charges to his first arrest.
It’s so sad that this happened, especially on Thanksgiving. It’s supposed to be the day to spend time with your loved ones, not murder. It’s just so sad.
