Coroner Confirms Body Discovered In Illinois River Belongs To State University Graduate Jelani Day!

Breaking reports have officially confirmed that a male body discovered floating within the Illinois River earlier this month belongs to missing student Jelani Day !

According to Central Illinois News, Jelanj was last seen on August 24th at Illinois State University campus. It has been indicated that his last known location was near the Beyond Hello in Bloomington area around 9:20AM


He was reported missing by his family and a faculty member after missing several days of classes.

On September 4th, a male’s body was found floating with the Illinois River roughly a quarter mile where Jelani’s car was discovered stripped of its license plates.

Officials weren’t able to confirm the person’s identity due to its condition. However LaSalle County Coroner has confirmed this afternoon through forensic dental identification and DNA testing that the body belongs to Jelani.

Bloomington Police Department Spokesperson John Fermon has come forward to state that they are currently workin out some of the details regarding Jelani’s death.

“We haven’t said if there’s foul play or anything like that. People are on edge. It impacts everyone,”says Fermon.
