The wait is almost over as HBO has officially confirmed the release of the highly anticipated fifth and final season of Insecure for October 2021!

The news was forwarded Monday morning by the series home network on Twitter within a tweet that read, “ The wait is almost over. The final season. October💜.”

Co-creator Issa Rae shocked fans earlier in the year after announcing that the series was scheduled for one last season.

“We always planned to tell this story through five seasons,” said Issa to Deadline.

“But I’m so grateful to be able to play this character, who is obviously a version of me, and in the same way that I want this character to grow, I want to be able to grow too.”

“So I think that’s what comes with it — I’ve played her for a long time, and I have so much more that I want to do.”

Though there hasn’t been many details forwarded, Issa did confirm that fans could expect more than 8 episodes.
