This one hurts just a tad bit, it is with an extremely heavy heart that we inform you all that the iconic children’s series of “Arthur,” is officially being laid to rest at its home network of PBS Kids!

The news was announced by screenwriter Kathy Waugh indicating that the show will be ending in 2022 with season 25. She also revealed that the show officially wrapped for production two years ago.

“Arthur is no longer in production. We had our wrap party two years ago. I think [PBS] made a mistake, and I think Arthur should come back and I know I’m not alone in thinking they made a mistake.”

She continues, “I don’t know if it was a ratings issue or if it felt like it needed to be retired. To me, it felt evergreen, like it was never going to end, but it did end.”

According to CNN, reruns will continue to be available on PBS Kids.

“Arthur is the longest-running kids animated series in history and is known for teaching kindness, empathy and inclusion through many groundbreaking moments to generations of viewers,” says Executive producer Carol Greenwald within a forwarded statement.

The four times Emmy award winning series was originally renewed in 2018 for a total of four seasons.

The final season of Arthur is set to air in winter 2022.
