A white city leader has been captured on Facebook live using a racial slur towards Black people within a recorded council meeting!
Within the meeting Tarrant City Council member #TommyBryant used a racial slur to refer to a Black council member by the name of Veronica Freeman, reports CBS News.
Sources confirm that the ordeal occurred as Bryant was questioned about controversial social media posts allegedly forwarded by his wife on the topic of race.
Within the video Bryant can be heard saying, “ The n-word. The n-word. Let’s get to the n-word. Hey. Do we have any house n— in here?”
Fellow council members can be heard gasping following Bryant’s statement which resulted in Freeman exiting the room crying.
“I did what needed to be done. It needed to be brought to light what kind of a person the mayor is,“ says Bryant to local news.
Reports read that the city of Tarrant has a population of nearly 7,000 currently consisting of mostly Black and Latino residents but used to be a predominantly white area.
It has been indicated that the Alabama Democratic Party has ordered for Bryant’s resignation, “Alabama still has a long way to go when it comes to race, but cozying up to the KKK and using the N word should make you unfit to serve. These racists belong in the history books with Bull Connor and George Wallace, not on the taxpayer’s payroll.”
