HBO Announces “Lovecraft Country” Will Not Be Returning For Season 2!

HBO broke the hearts of millions upon delivering the shocking news that the beloved fan favorite series of “Lovecraft Country” will not be returning for season 2!

“We will not be moving forward with a second season of Lovecraft Country,” reads a direct statement from the HBO network to Deadline. “We are grateful for the dedication and artistry of the gifted cast and crew, and to Misha Green, who crafted this groundbreaking series. And to the fans, thank you for joining us on this journey.”


The fictional, sci-fi drama mixed genres of horror with fantasy and history that also explored societal issues that amplified conversations throughout social media each week.

The 10 episode series explored the life of Atticus Freeman played by Johnathan Majors alongside his longtime fried Letita played by Jurnee Smollet and Uncle George played by Courtney B. Vance.

Together the trio journey out on a road trip from Chicago throughout America within the Jim Crow era searching for his dad. Things quickly turned for the worst after they forced to fight for survival against racist white americans and countless unidentified creatures.

While pulling in 1.5 million in viewers, Lovecraft Country became one of the most watched new episodes of an original series on HBO Max on it very first day of availability reports Deadline. Then skyrocketing to 10 million views for it’s premiere episode by the time their finale was released.

Following the shocking news fans took to social media upset as they expected for a new season to be released sometime this year.

Though there hasn’t been any word as of yet but it is possible the series could be shopped around to other networks. Fingers crossed y’all!
